Chelsea: Has Frank Lampard lost his post as manager sooner than expected?
Was it too soon to close the first chapter on the Lampard-Chelsea era?
Already out of one cup and lagging behind their top-four competitors after spending the most money out of all the top-six clubs. In fact, they spent the most out of all the English top-flight sides.
The big spenders forked out £226.1 million on transfers, working on their defence and attack. Unfortunately, some of the problems from last season carried over to this one and some new issues started appearing over the duration of his second season in charge.
They are still one of the highest conceding teams in the league. Yes, they have already been knocked out of the EFL Cup but this time going further and reaching the semi-finals at least. Sadly, this was and is not good enough for the man running the show.

Frank’s biggest setback this season? Being unable to unleash his new signings’ true potential and talent while chopping and changing the formation plus lineup too many times between matchdays.
With all this in mind, a managerial firing was certainly coming but in all honesty, it transpired a lot earlier than expected.
He did the club a favour when they were in dire need of somebody coming in and doing a job with all the restraints placed on the football club during the 2019/2020 campaign.
He handled the initial pressures of this expertly well – giving the impression he is ready for the next assignment ahead.
Now he gets the boot with plenty of time to save their season. Way too soon to let go of him (in my opinion). Why hire Frank Lampard in the first place if there was no room for growth for him and the team.
Thomas Tuchel next in line for the Chelsea job
The recently fired, Thomas Tuchel, will be the man taking the helm at Stamford Bridge, according to recent reports.
Working with some world-class players over the past few years while at PSG certainly raised his pedigree to another level but this is the Premier League.
We’ve seen some big hitters come to England’s top flight swing miss and strike out completely. The club will hand the German an 18-month initial deal.
