Mesut Ozil has made it to Turkey with his Fenerbahce deal all but confirmed. All of the drama is finally over at the Emirates and all involved can move forward.

Mesut Ozil was a great servant for Arsenal. Sadly, things at the end of his Gunners’ career haven’t concluded the way the player and fans wanted it to. One of the most sensational attacking midfielders across Europe has left Arsenal after seven long years at the Emirates.

During his seven-year stint with the Gunners, he went on to win multiple trophies under Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta. However, having raised his voice for a humanitarian cause was considered as one of the prime reasons behind the club ending his stay in England.

The 32-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal in the 2013 summer transfer window. Arsene Wener loosened his purse to sign Ozil from Los Blancos in a deal worth €47 million. Under Wenger, Ozil and Alexis Sanchez formed a deadly duo and troubled their opposition to a great extent.

More from Arsenal

In his seven years in North London, the German featured in 247 games for Arsenal. He scored 43 goals and assisted 70 goals for the Emirates outfit across all competitions.

Despite having multiple accolades to his name with Arsenal, the player was omitted from the squad this season, both Europa League and Premier League.

This forced Mesut Ozil to rethink his current situation and finally concede his time at Arsenal has run its course. He has parted ways with Arsenal and has joined Turkish outfit, Fenerbahce.

Here I have picked my top three moments by Mesut Ozil an Arsenal shirt and as a Gunner great.

Third best moment
Arsenal vs. Leicester City; October 2018

It was a game where Arsenal scored for their opposition, Leicester City, who at the time operated under Claude Puel. Leicester were leading the game by an own goal off Hector Bellerin in the 31st minute before Arsenal and Mesut Ozil came to the party.

Just when it looked like the Foxes were going to break away with the lead, Ozil took the game into his own hands. The German latched onto Xhaka’s pass near the halfway line before feeding Bellerin on the right flank.

Mesut Ozil continued his run and scored the equalizer past Kasper Schmeichel off a return pass from Bellerin to level the game.

Arsenal started the second half with a great tempo and the momentum in their favor. The second goal and goal to take the lead was also thanks to the brilliance of Ozil who cut open the entire Leicester team with his key pass to Bellerin.

His inch-perfect pass into the danger zone allowed the Spanish fullback to setup striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The final goal displayed the German’s brilliance. He made a dummy, allowing the ball to reach Lacazetter outside the 18-yard box before collecting it in the penalty area.

Then, the player perfectly flicked it to Aubameyang who slotted it past the goalkeeper, 3-1 to Arsenal. Against Leicester, Mesut Ozil had one of the best games in an Arsenal shirt. He inspired one of the best turnarounds of the 2018/19 campaign.
