Transfer News: Real Madrid player wanted by Premier League top-six duo
Premier League pair Liverpool and Tottenham are the clubs being linked with Real Madrid’s Eder Militao.
Real Madrid have seen enough of Eder Militao and a move abroad during January is exactly what the club desires most. What once was Los Blancos’ most expensive defender singing in the club’s history is now an outcast and out-of-favour player.
Real is said to be willing to let Militao go out on loan with an option to buy. So far two clubs from England’s top flight are being named. They are Liverpool and Tottenham.

The Brazillian was bought from Porto FC back in 2019. He was brought in by Zinedine Zidane, who at the time just rejoined the club after taking a season break at the end of 2018, for a club record-fee of €50 million.
To say that Eder Militao’s minutes on the pitch has been limited since joining the Spanish side would be an understatement and a crime against the player.
He has played as little as 225 minutes of football. Of those appearances, two were La Liga features and the other a Champions League feature.
What has kept him out of the side despite being the club’s record CB signing? Raphaël Varane and Sergio Ramos. The two first-choice centre-backs are the main reasons behind his lack of game time.
Now Madrid wants him to go out and get some minutes under his belt and increase his transfer value perhaps. Following him being publically transfer-listed by Madrid, Eder has not been short of potential suitors.
As mentioned previously, both the Reds and Spurs are clubs expressing their interest while they face competition all the way from Germany with Bayern Munich the other possible destination for him to end up at.
Liverpool’s transfer situation
The Reds are in dire need of another senior CB. They’ve vowed to jump into the market for one but only next summer or if the price is right they will do the work now, as per Jurgen Klopp.
A loan deal would be ideal for the English champs, but it’s yet to be seen if they are sticking to their transfer policy for January. That’s no new names for the next half of the season.
Quite frankly, a lot could be riding on Sunday’s top-of-the-table showdown between them and old foes Manchester United. A lose could force sudden work whereas a victory could give them the confidence to go as-is into the rest of the season.
Tottenham’s transfer situation
Jose Mourinho is keen on Eder now that the North Londoners know he is available but will wait and first crunch some numbers before considering a transfer for him.
The manager wants to reinforce his backline with one or two new additions, so Spurs could happen over Liverpool bringing him to the EPL.
It is also being said that Spurs have been monitoring the defensive target for years, having been on their radar since his days at Porto.
