Adjusting to the Premier League is not every player’s cup of tea but Ferran Torres has shown early promise for Manchester City with his performances.

The loss of a player of Leroy Sane‘s statue is always daunting. It takes time for a club to replace a prolific player such as the aforementioned. Some clubs even struggle to replace players who have left half a decade ago.

Manchester City were well prepared for the departure of Leroy Sane. Pep Guardiola succeeded Sane with the Spanish right-winger, Ferran Torres in no time after the German left. Since his arrival at the Etihad, he has lit the Premier League up.

Taking the La Liga by storm in 2019/20, the 20-year-old attracted multiple European giants. However, it was Man City who made a swift move in the summer and lured him to the Eithad.

The Cityzens signed the winger, who is valued at €50 million, from Valencia for a sum of €23 million in the transfer window. Last season, he accumulated 14 G/A in 44 games for the Spanish outfit.

His versatility has been key

His versatility has won the hearts of fans across the world. A winger by trade and a poacher in front of goal when needed to lead the line for Pep. He is slowly but surely proving himself a lethal forward in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.

Against Olympiacos in the Champions League group stages, Ferran Torres was given a go at No.9 with Sergio Aguero still recovering from injury and Gabriel Jesus rested.

Starting alongside Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, Torres notched a goal in the 12th minute after a beautiful one-two with Kevin de Bruyne at the edge of the penalty area.

Talking about the versatile of a player who can play out wide and as a striker, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand hailed both Ferran Torres and Pep Guardiola.

He said:

"We were talking about Torres in the game, his movement is very, very much like a natural number nine. He was probably brought into play out wide, but he’s almost been bedded into this position by Pep the genius, who knew something we didn’t.(Via: Manchester Evening News)"

Torres has been a regular for the City boss and that has a lot to do with their injuries upfront. However, he has in return, made it difficult for Pep to leave him out of the starting XI. He has already featured in 17 games and has started six out of nine Premier League games.

Manchester City have fallen behind a bit in the title race. Liverpool are once again on top of the table with the Cityzens eight points adrift and a game in hand. Can Ferran Torres inspire his team and help them get closer to the log leaders?
