With multiple players on the surgery table at the time, Williams rose through the ranks and filled the void left by Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot.

The U21 English international played 36 games and had 2473 minutes under his belt. He also has one senior goal for the side which came against Sheffield United in the English Premier League.

Despite being a right-back for the U19s and U23s, his versatility to play on the left-flank makes him a hero amongst the fan base. Thanks to his impressive performances he has caught the attention of Saints’ manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl.

James Ducker of the Telegraph mentioned Tweeted:

On the final day of the summer transfer window, the Red Devils were able to sign 27-year-old Alex Telles from FC Porto. There was genuine interest from Southampton back in October to sign Brandon Williams on loan.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the move as there was a lack of cover at the left-back position. Since the Brazillian’s arrival, the young Englishman has found his first-team minutes cut short.

This season, the English fullback has featured in just five games across all competitions for the Old Trafford outfit. He needs regular first-team minutes after enjoying a lot of time on the pitch last season.

The Saints are off to a great start in the Premier League as they find themselves in the top four after 13 games. Hasenhuttl wants competition for his fullbacks, Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Bertrand, at St Mary’s Park and looks to Brandon Williams as a potential cover for these two.

With the festive period slowly setting in, the Austrian manager wants to improve his squad depth to compete for a European spot. Though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge admirer of the U21 English international, he would sanction a loan move for him.
