Chelsea struggles to replicate the form that saw them unbeaten for nine games. A 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers sees them go two games without any points collected.

The most done-up squad in the English Premier League after the summer fails to live up to the hype. After leading for only 17 minutes of the game, they went on to lose it in the dying minutes of injury time.

Stunning goals stole the show for Nuno Santo. The equaliser came thanks to some individual brilliance from Daniel Podence and the late, late, late winner was thanks to a dazzling counter-attack capped off with a sublime finish by star-man Pedro Neto.

The final score of 2-1 to Wolves was a good reflection of the game. The home side started off slow but came into the encounter with every passing second. The visitors looked like they couldn’t deal with the pace of the host once the game was stretched wide open.

More from Chelsea

Neto is loving his time filling in with goals for the missing Raul Jimenez. The other goalscorer is showing some good signs he can fill the void left by Liverpool’s top signing, Diogo Jota. The biggest surprise was the debutant and American, Owen Otasowie, who made a massive impact on the game.

The 19-year-old academy player came in for Leander Dendoncker and paid back the manager in full for trusting in him. He was the one to helped Podence with an assist.

With his showing for Wolves against the Blues, we can all easily agree that the U.S. has some young gems across Europe’s top-flight leagues making a huge impact on the game by leaving their mark more often than not.

Back to winning ways for Nuno and his wonderous Wolverhampton after their consecutive defeats to Aston Villa and Liverpool, respectively.

The away team struggles over two games

Chelsea’s new signings failed to impress, especially Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. This is the first time Edouard Mendy and company have conceded two goals in 90 minutes since their 3-3 draw against Southampton back in October.

The Stamford Bridge side managed to get only three shot on target after taking 13 at Wolves’ goalmouth. Werner was rightfully blasted by Lampard for not finishing the game off for Chelsea and losing the ball too many times when in possession.

Adding to Timo’s misery on the pitch, he has failed to score in their last eight games across all competitions. However, the backline must be taken to task for not being able to see out a 1-0 lead.

Chilwell lost the ball the most against Tuesday night’s opponents. A total of 30 times, the most by a Blue on the night and the most be a Blue this season as well.

The midweek blues for Chelsea and a return to form for Wolves. Lampard’s team stays in fifth place, allowing Manchester City to get within two points from them. A tight affair for the top spots this season.

Wolves move up three places from last weekend’s 13th into10th. A pretty sight after spoiling their best start to a Premier League campaign.
