Liverpool’s in-form Diogo Jota will undergo a late fitness test ahead of their Premier League clash against Fulham.

Second-placed Liverpool takes on 17th-placed Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday late afternoon. The champions of England have been in fine fettle despite a plethora of injuries to first-teamers.

Their most recent EPL fixture should have Scott Parker worried that picking up points might be hard to come by. They thrashed Wolves 4-0 when they visited Anfield for the final fixture of Matchday 11. Adding to Scott’s worry, Jurgen Klopp welcomes back two important figures to team selection.

The returning duo of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alisson Becker is a massive boost for the Reds, however, the potential loss of firing forward, Diogo Jota, is a massive blow.

"Jürgen Klopp says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a complete recovery from injury and can recapture his peak Liverpool form after a difficult few years.Oxlade-Chamberlain returned to full training this week for the first time since damaging knee ligaments during pre-season training in August. The midfielder, and the goalkeeper Alisson, who has missed three games with a hamstring strain but trained on Friday, could be involved at Fulham on Sunday. (Via: theguardian.com)"

Liverpool against the bottom half this season

More from Liverpool FC

Jurgen has done masterfully well against opposition at the lower end of the Premier League standings. The Reds have played three teams in the bottom half which includes Arsenal who sits in 15th place and lost none of them.

They beat both Arsenal (3-1) and Sheffield United (2-0) respectively. Both victories came at Anfield. The one away game where they played the Seagulls saw them come close to a win, but a last-minute penalty saved a point for Graham Potter.

Liverpool will want all the points from this one and will want to do it with a clean sheet intact while hoping their attackers enjoy a frenzy of goals. The former could easily be achieved with the solid enforcement of Alisson Becker, who returns to take his place as the chosen one.

Over on the other end, Klopp will be hoping he will be spoilt for choice but this is totally dependant on Diogo Jota and his late assessment. If the boss has him available, the front three fit, and Chamberlain back from injury, he could see them achieve the plenty goals goal.

Jota along with Mohamed Salah are the club’s most in-form goalscorers. They have a combined total of 14 goals between them –  Mo with nine and Jota with five.

It should have been a struggle for the Premier League champs in theory but in reality, they’ve barely put a foot wrong. They have suffered injuries to 12 first-team players over the course of the current campaign with some still serving their time on the sideline.
