Liverpool turned on the style as they invited 2000 fans back into Anfield and hammered Wolvers, giving Spurs no chance to rest in the Premier League title race.
Wolves received a rude awakening and were half the team they usually are when they went down 4-0 against the champions of England, Liverpool. After Sunday’s festivities, many have considered Tottenham as serious title contenders in the Premier League.
Both sides vying for the EPL title and who lead from the front, one trying to retain it and the other stamping their authority on the league, gave their fans the sweetest return to their respective stadiums.
Excitingly for all fans involved, they are far from the only two able to take English top-flight glory, as well as far from being the only clubs giving their fans a happy welcome back party, however, they have been the most consistent pair along with Chelsea.
Starting with Spurs in the NLD
What Mourinho asked for from his Spurs side, Mourinho got! Another Jose masterclass saw them pick up three points and another clean sheet in a 2-0 win over their city foes. The deadly duo of Son Heung-min and Harry Kane were clinical with their little opportunity and that’s all that matters when facing their North London rivals.
Spurs have conceded one goal in 540 minutes of Premier League football. This has seen them sit top of the table in consecutive weeks, thanks to a better goal difference to their to the team closest to them.
Jose went into the game holding an unbeaten run against the Gunners, he left with that unbeaten run well intact. Despite an opening-day loss by the hands of Everton, Spurs have turned up the heat and now present themselves as the team to beat.

A team still imposing a certain threat to the usual top six in Wolves met one of the title favourites. They took on this challenge without their lethal hitman, who is also one of the league’s best strikers, Raul Jimenez.
Due to this, they lacked a special quality in front of goal. On the other end, the visitors struggled tremendously to keep the Reds quiet. The form they are currently showing makes them one of the toughest opponents to come up against in the league.
They look as if they are getting back to their best. The company of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, and others are becoming too much to deal with again.
Winning ugly was the way of the Reds in the early stages of the season but it appears they have found their groove and are hitting good opposition with emphatic performances. A 3-0 win over a top-four opponent (Leicester City) and now a 4-0 victory over a top-six/top-eight opponent.
Judging by the business completed in the summer, injury setbacks, and form at the start of the season, Liverpool should have been in and around where Arsenal currently sit (15th place) and them where Liverpool are – but they are flying high and keeping up with teams in far better situations than them.
When Jose and his Tottenham side ask Jurgen and his Liverpool side the question, “can you keep up”, they answer back in the perfect manner.
