For the last two years, the English Premier League title race has been between Liverpool and Manchester City. However, this is not the case this season.

The celebrations from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield after the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers summed up the emotions of not only a Liverpool fan but a football faithful too. The league has completed eleven matchdays and a proper leader is yet to emerge.

Two teams are level in terms of points whereas other teams are just two/three points behind the EPL leaders – obviously those in contention for the league title. One draw or defeat to the table-topper and we can probably see a new team at the summit.

Chelsea completed a turnaround on Saturday against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge and finished the day as the log leaders. However, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham took pole position with a victory over Arsenal in the North London derby the following day.

With Klopp resisting to give-up early, Liverpool are breathing down Spurs’ neck with both being level on 24 points. The four-goal victory increased the Merseysiders’ goal difference to nine on Sunday, putting them within touching distance of Spurs.

At the start of the eighth gameweek in the Premier League, Southampton were leading the points table. However, a defeat at home against Manchester United on Matchday 10 put them behind in the race. Nevertheless, it is still in their hands as they are yet to face Liverpool and Chelsea in the first half.

More from Premier League

The previous season’s runners-up Manchester City lost their way in the beginning and were found in 12th place. However, back-to-back victories have propelled them into sixth with a game in hand – which is against Aston Villa at the Etihad.

The quality of Pep’s squad and Guardiola himself makes it impossible to count them out of any title race. There is no one across Europe denying City’s consistency in the English top-flight despite the club enduring rough times in the early stages.

The well-known Ole’s tricky Reds are back in the title race after a couple of promising performances. The team found themselves in the bottom half of the table after six games.

Thankfully, their recent turnaround in performances has seen them move upwards in the points table and are in the top six. A minor slip-up from the top two will help Manchester United make inroads into pole position or close enough.

How serious are the Foxes?

How can one forget Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City? They have been ruthless throughout the season barring a game or two. Whenever the team has found themselves in a tough situation, Jamie Vardy has bailed them out with crucial goals.

Even against Sheffield United, when the game seemed it would end in a draw, Jamie Vardy found the back of the net on a counter. They are just three points off the top and can still turn the league on its head.

For a football fan and English Premier League fan, it is difficult to digest that one of the best clubs previously in England, Arsenal are struggling to thrive with all the impressive work they have done in the summer window.

light. Must Read. Episode 2 of EPL youngsters on the radar

After the North London Derby loss, the Gunners find themselves in the bottom five and are just six points away from the relegation zone. Their goal to get into Europe’s elite competitions might be a distant dream if they fail to address the issues in the upcoming weeks.
