Liverpool’s in-form Mohamed Salah is the latest to fall victim to the international duty curse. The player has tested positive for the coronavirus.

As the saying goes… “When it rains it pours!” Anfield went from showers of blessings and success to a hurricane of worry and despair in such a rapid fashion. A week of loss starting from their final Premier League fixture (Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool) where they lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to a four-week injury.

After laying down our heads to sleep a couple of nights in a row the next big blow hit the Merseysiders, kinda like a sucker punch. Jurgen Klopp suffered another loss in his defensive ranks. Joe Gomez was pronounced injured while on country duty. One report he got injured and the next, he had a successful knee operation.

Then came the knockout blow (well the Reds will have their fingers crossed, hoping this is the final straw and that they’ve now endured all their hardship this season – they say everything happens in threes) Mohamed Salah has contracted COVID-19 and will just about make the match on return to Premier League action next weekend November 22.

That is if he requires the minimum amount of days of isolation for the infection to pass.

Salah to self-isolate in home country Egypt

More from Liverpool FC

As per Liverpool’s inside man James Pearce, the forward will proceed to serve his self-isolation in his homeland in Egypt for approximately seven days. This will see him arrive in England on the shores of Merseyside by Friday for the earliest.

The player tested positive after attending a family wedding, according to reports. It was thereafter the Egyptian FA tested the player and found him to be coronavirus infected.

No symptoms are been displayed by the Egyptian winger, therefore, more tests will be conducted and somewhat a positive sign.

"Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has tested positive for Covid-19, the Egyptian Football Association has announced. The governing body said a medical swab taken from the 28-year-old came back positive but said the player was not suffering from any symptoms. The EFA said Salah was now isolating, and that he would be “subject to more checks in the coming hours”."

There have been several cases of hits and misses, where the player was one day positive, the next day negative. Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the squad will be hoping this will be the case with Mo Salah, their top scorer for the season so far.

Mo himself is said to be optimistic about his COVID case and believes he will be able to take part in Sunday’s clash at Anfield. They welcome the team who sits a point above them and at the top of the table, Leicester City.

"The positive tests should not sideline the 28-year-old for long provided he remains asymptomatic or develops only mild symptoms. Liverpool are not due to play again until their Premier League encounter with Leicester on 22 November. (Via: theguardian.com)"

Blow after blow the mighty Reds still stand tall

Body blows. Blows to the head. Blow to the gut. Blows to both eyes causing cuts on each eyelid of Liverpool when you consider their injury crisis happening in the early stages of the season. Some bruces are heeling while others leave them unable to operate 100%.

Strangely, the team has still pulled through every challenge so far. A clean slate in the Champions League with nine points collected after the first round was completed. They scored a total of eight goals while going through the round without conceding a single goal.

Despite a 7-2 loss, the Reds have stated their case as champions of England. Already taking down Arsenal, Chelsea — picking up draws again Everton and Manchester City and the rest, all victories.

Next. The fans win this one over the Premier League. dark

This was achieved all while been without key figures. Klopp is about to make a statement with all this bad fortunate. Can he do the impossible and prove he can do it with the right mentality installed all around the pitch.
