Liverpool’s Champions League victory over FC Midtjylland saw a lineup that made a bit of short history and what fans must expect more of in the near future.
The Reds top Group D and have endured extreme highs and lows, despite collecting six points from the six available in the opening two matchdays. In their most recent win, they bearly beat last-placed Midtjylland.
The 2-0 scoreline is not a testament of how in control of the game Liverpool were at Anfield. In fact, it is only a representation of the home side’s ability to win ugly and without really being the best team on the pitch for 90 minutes of football.

Only one or two moments required, and then any one of the terrifying trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, or Mohamed Salah will punish whomever they are up against. But Tuesday night struggles to kill off the Danish team was partially due to none of them starting the Champions League clash.
The short history made
The short history made on Tuesday night at Anfield, none of the mighty front three started. A first in the UCL since the trinity have been hitting the back of the net and playing together.
After Jota opened the scoring for the Scouses, we can say it was successful changes made by Klopp and we should expect more significant alterations in the near future.
Another reason why this will become the new norm? Because of many news outlets and rumours flying around about what’s to come next summer. The speculations… This is possibly the last season the famous attacking threat of Mane, Mo, and Bobby will be playing together.
Afore the season kicked off, Mane almost left the club twice. Two summers ago it was Real Madrid who were many millions short of acquiring his services and opted out. Then the second offence, the Senegalese was wanted by Barcelona in the midst of a Messi drama.
Fortunately, Messi stayed put at Barcelona and so did Sadio remain at Liverpool. Now the most recent rumours, Roberto is ready to start a new chapter in his career as he’s won almost everything with the Merseyside outfit. All silverware barring the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
With the rumour of the player wanting to do something new at a different location, it is said La Liga champions Real Madrid are looking to bring him in “keeping close tabs on Firmino”. Preparations for life after them is needed and signings like Jota are the future of the club.
