Early on Thursday Liverpool announced they have agreed to sign Thiago from Bayern and now have turned their attention to the front line.
The Reds are said to have opened talks with Watford enquiring about the services of their winger, Ismaila Sarr. Watford have been aware of Liverpool’s interest in him for a while and are open to the player leaving Vicarage Road but, for the right price and to any team prepared to meet their asking.
The demoted club is ready to listen to all offers between £36-£45m for their club-record signing. He joined last summer for £30m, snubbing some big moves to become a Hornet. Adding to the Sarr saga (or should we call it the “Sarrga”?), the Premier League run-aways face competition for his signature, with rivals Manchester United looking at him as a plan B/C/D/E or F, if they fail in their Sancho pursuit.
"Liverpool have enquired about Ismaila Sarr and discussed his situation with Watford, with the Reds are weighing up their transfer options. No bid has been made yet, but he is being seriously considered as a backup option for Liverpool’s front three. Watford would want at least £36million for the forward, who joined the club last year."
Even though the Hornets are willing to sell, they are still hoping to keep him on the books as they look to bounce back strong, with a Premier League return the only goal in this season’s Championship run.
"The Hornets will be holding onto their man as they look to rebound straight back into the Premier League for next season, but may be willing to part for the right price. (Via: dailymail.co.uk)"
When fit, Ismaila Sarr enjoyed a decent breakout season in English top-flight football. Contributing to a dozen goals for the period with six goals and six assists, the player made a bit of a name for himself.
When he was injured it was noticeable and his team suffered dearly when not having him available for selection. Watford have already lost Abdoulaye Doucoure to Everton for £22,10m, a player who contributed to a lot on the pitch. Losing the 22-year-old will just make their rise to the top a lot more challenging.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated enough time during the course of last season that he wants to close the talent gap between the first XI and the bench. In return, raise the competition between the players on the pitch and those ready to go.
Also, the Reds are not getting any younger and have only three players below the age of 25. Getting in athletes who Premier League ready and who will be there for five-years plus is important to the club’s rebuilding phase.
Cover in certain areas has always been the issue, as well as never having a plan B when the chips are down. Sarri is a long-term solution to this – that could work out to be as good a signing as Sadio Mane, who could aid in his countryman’s decision, as well as his development.
Man United will only press for an Ismaila transfer if/when they pull the plug on the Sancho deal. Although, with this being said, a Sancho deal sounds like a happy dream and nothing more for United fans now.
Liverpool could have all the time in the world to decide on Sarr but must be careful as he could be poached by a rival.
