Jubilation for the Liverpool public globally! The Reds make their breakthrough in negotiations for long-standing summer target, Thiago Alcântara.

The Reds make sure they keep Jurgen Klopp happy as they reach the final stages of bringing Munich midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, to Anfield Stadium. The player for almost the entire length of the transfer window was linked with a move to the Premier League champions.

The duo, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have belatedly reached a settlement to the amount of £27.5m (€30m), a price the buyers felt was too excessive in this currently crippled market. The Spain international, had personal terms sorted out way before the clubs shook on a final fee, making it expressively clear where he would like to be in the final destination of his footballing journey.

The Merseyside outfit identified him as their priority signing in a window where business was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has caused most clubs to act with much caution, trying to acquire players on loan deals, swap outs, or at the lowest minimum rate.

The Premier League champions needed to perform this appointment now more than ever and as early as possible. Yes, the player had his sights set on Anfield but every player has their price, and any top side in Europe could have easily persuaded him to flip his resolution.

The treble champions Bayern tried their best to convince him to stay put and sign a new long-term deal but were not prepared to wait until next summer for the player to leave on a free. He is in the final year of his contract and would have been allowed to talk to any club in six months from now.

The soon to be Red will sign a four-year deal with the Anfield club and is subject to a medical later today. The announcement could happen before the weekend. The structure between the English and Germans is said to be £20m upfront with the rest paid in add-ons at a later stage.

More from Liverpool FC

"Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Anfield side will pay £20m across Thiago’s four-year contract, with the potential for £5m in add-ons, and the midfielder will wear the No 6 jersey. (Via: Sky Sports)"

The Spaniard will come in and take the number 6 jersey. He will certainly not be a bench player and in return has upgraded Liverpool Football Club to the next level needed in their title-defending campaign.

The competition will be stiff and top class in the middle of the park. If they get Georginio Wijnaldum to pen a new deal and snub Barcelona, they will stand a strong chance of defending their English gold all while being able to compete on all fronts.

He walks through the doors at Melwood as the most decorated player, emphasising even more what a steal he is at only £27.5m and why Bayern was so reluctant to let go of the midfield maestro.

Since moving to Munich he has won a trophy every campaign. In total, he has collected 16 major trophies in Germany, with last season being his most successful after taking the treble with the Bavarians.

Afore this, at Barcelona, he secured eight major honours with the Catalan club, enjoying their most successful period in the club’s history. He brings nothing but world-class presence to the English club and the Premier League.
