Jurgen Klopp could finally get his revered transfer target.
After the Champions League victory, Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has communicated his desire to seek a new challenge this summer, with Liverpool waiting in the wings for the Spaniard’s services.
Thiago Alcantara, who is into the final year of his contract, has refused to extend his stay at the German club and expressed his decision to the club chiefs during the UCL victory parade. Bayern bosses are willing to sell the player, who could negotiate a free transfer after entering the final six months of the agreement.
Thiago, despite his recent injury concerns, remains one of the most efficient midfield orchestrators in Europe. The 29-year-old played a vital part in controlling the tempo of Bayern’s buildup against Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League triumph.
Jurgen Klopp envisages the former Barcelona man as the only player who could add something different to his Liverpool side, which has all the necessary tools to compete with the elite clubs of the world.
Despite Liverpool’s firm interest, there has been a reluctance to pay above €30m for Thiago, thereby matching the valuation set by Bayern Munich.

Previously, Manchester City have made their presence felt too, citing an impasse in negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Pep Guardiola remains a big admirer of Thiago, having mentored the player during his spell with the Bavarian giants and Barcelona.
As things stand, Liverpool are the favourites to land the maestro this summer until an offer emerges out of the blue to scupper the deal.
