Ainsley Maitland-Niles looks set to join English side Wolves in a deal said to be worth £20m.

Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are working fast in the transfer market with incomings and outgoings. After recently welcoming ex-Chelsa winger Willian to the fold, they also near the completion of a more important summer signing, a defender in the shape of Gabriel Magalhaes.

In the midst of all the excitement, the Gunners need to offload players who have no future at the club and that have been identified as useless to Arteta’s project. Sadly, players who want to break into the first-team, searching for regular football will too be looking for a way out. One such player is Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The club said to be keen and close to singing the English youngster is Nuno Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers. The need to add quality to the squad is high. Wolves found out how difficult it is to compete in the European competition while fighting for a high finish in the domestic league last season.

They are known for their fearsome starting 11, with one or two extra players considered dangerous off the bench. Other than this, the Wolverhampton side needs to bring in some newbies to take them to the next level.

With Niles coming in, Wolves will have a player who can occupy a number of positions from front to back. He will provide cover in many areas, as well as fight for a starting place. Having lost Jonny Otto to a long injury layoff of six-nine months, the need for the 22-year-old is greater than expected.

The Englishman made 20 appearances as a Gunner last season, adding two assists to his name. Overall, in his time at the Emirates, he has made a total of 53 Premier League appearances, scoring once and adding one more assist to the two mentioned previously.
