Chelsea: Talks with defender singing are said to be going well
Chelsea is finally working in the most pressing areas and soon we could see them pull off a double coup.
As per major outlets and the trusted Fabrizio Romano, the Blues and Frank Lampard could be two new players heavier in a couple of weeks from now. However, none of these fresh faces is going to be Kai Havertz.
Talks between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen are ongoing with a settlement on a fee a couple of millions off still. The potential incomings are defenders Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva. The former has been a long-term target for the Blues.
Leicester City has admitted to defeat and are asking for a sum close to the £80 million paid by Manchester United for Harry Maguire. So that transfer could possibly take longer than a week if the two English outfits cannot agree on a fee soon.
The latter, Silva, has come as a bit of a surprise but not as a shocker. Following PSG’s loss at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, the central defender becomes a free agent.
The French club needed to free up funds with both Thiago and Edinson Cavani being released from Paris. The duo had huge wages and due to the aftermath of the pandemic, the club needed to act.
The Brazilian was previously and for a long time linked with a move to Goodison Park to join forces with his old boss, Carlo Ancelotti. Sadly for the Toffees, their pulling power is weak and only consists of Ancelotti. Without European football, it will be difficult to convince the best in the world to join them.
Soon Chelsea will have their answer

PSG’s ex-captain wanted a few days afore deciding his future. Having just exited the Champions League in heartbreak, the player will probably need the week or so to mull over his various options.
Besides Everton, many clubs will be in for a player of Thiago Silva’s calibre and experience but not many will be able to pay his salary demand. Chelsea is winning in this department, having not spent a cent for a couple of transfer windows prior to this summer window. Frank Lampard needs to concentrate on the defensive line, especially in the goalkeeper domain and centre back position.
Thiago will add so much to the club if he joins. He along with his Parisian teammates had the best defensive record this season, conceding as little as six goals all tournament. Only Ajax and Juventus equalled their low tally, with both clubs leaving early and despite PSG conceding a loss in the final by one goal.
