Chelsea is nearing closure of their summer business with them a couple of transfers away from competing for top honours.
Kai Havertz will undoubtedly be a Blue in a few days from now. Monday brought forward some good news for Chelsea fans as Fabrizio Romano broke the story that the Germans, Leverkusen, will accept the latest bid for their star player from the London club.
The fee put forward and set to be “accepted” is assumed to be €100 million, split into €80 million upfront plus €20 million in add-ons, depending on certain clauses inserted in the sale. This will set off a number of things. Havertz will surpass his soon to be teammate and countryman Timo Werner as the most expensive signing from the Deutsch land.
This will also signal the Stamford Bridge’s record signing made in the history of their existence. However, Kai is largely rated as one of the brightest talents in Europe and the brightest coming out of Germany. The London clubs have fended off a number of their counterparts to the young star’s signature, with Lampard apparently playing a key role in the transfer.
Kai Havertz to Chelsea, one step away and then... here we go! Total agreement to be reached on nest hours with Bayer Leverkusen. Last bid is going to be accepted. €80M + €20M add ons as final fee. Last details and paperworks time. 🔵 #CFC #Havertz #Chelsea

It was always only a matter of time for the 21-year-old to make his switch from North Rhine-Westphalia to South West London. After both clubs concluded their business on the pitch in Europe they got straight down to business.

The clauses said to be added to the sale of Kai Havertz:
"Some of those clauses are thought to be fairly achievable, such as regularly qualifying for the Champions League and going beyond the group stage.Others are more unpredictable as they relate to Chelsea winning silverware with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup the prime targets. High expectations placed on his shoulders
For a €100m, the attacker will be expected to start off flying from Matchday 1 in the Premier League. Being the most expensive signing for the summer while making history in the transfer market often weighs heavy on a footballer.
Ask Paul Pogba. One of the most talented players in his position while at Juventus became Man United’s most expensive signing in their history (£89.3 million), and they yet to win the Premier League and Champions League, with the midfielder’s form dropping over time.
Kai Havertz will have the same stresses per 90 minutes of football, nonetheless, nothing suggests he will suffer the same fate and endure the wrath from the Stamford Bridge public and the English top flight.
The attacker is the fourth signing of the summer and will not be the last with deals for both Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva said to be nearing completion.
