Leeds United are on the verge of handing Marcelo Bielsa a new contract with the club.

After the Argentine’s initial two-year deal expired following their promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United are positive that their coach, Marcelo Bielsa, will extend his contract with the Yorkshire based outfit.

The Argentine manager masterminded Leeds United’s promotion from the EFL Championship. He concluded their 16-year absence from England’s top-flight. Nicknamed ‘El Loco’, Marcelo Bielsa is already a legend at Elland Road.

It is all credited to his high-octane thinking and off the wall individuality. Bielsa has endeared himself to the Leeds faithful and becomes something of a cult hero, all the way from blue buckets to power-point presentations.

The Leeds fans, who have a deep connection with the Bielsa, will be delighted and it will be like music to their ears because he is the man who brought them back to the Premier League. The club chiefs are desperate for Bielsa to stay and talkSPORT understands a new deal for the 65-year-old will be announced shortly following a breakthrough in the talks.

The manager was also pictured with his scouts in a coffee shop along with St Pauli midfielder. It seems that the manager has invested himself in the project and the future of the club. Everybody loves him and wants him to stay.

More from Premier League

Jermaine Beckford, the former Leeds striker, recently told talkSPORT that he is in awe of the manager:

"He is a phenomenal person. He doesn’t look at football the same way any normal person does. He’s obsessed with football, he’s obsessed with tactics, he’s obsessed with getting it right every opportunity he gets.He doesn’t leave anything to chance. You can see the frustration when somebody doesn’t pay attention to his points. (Via: talksport.com)"

There might be questions to why the club delayed in extending his contract. It can be partially attributed to the manager being linked with several high profile clubs across Europe.

They want to wrap up his deal so that they can act fast in the transfer window, trying to get all their business done early and make certain of securing what appears to be a golden ticket in Marcelo Bielsa.

He was recently linked with Barcelona after they had sacked Quique Setien. However, Ronald Koeman has been appointment at Camp Nou as the new boss. So that worry is over for the newly-promoted club.

Leeds United will hope to continue their fine form in the Premier League after a good 2018/19 and 2019/20 season. Can Leeds repeat Sheffield United’s performance after their promotion to the top flight under Marcelo Bielsa? They play the Premier League champions on the opening day.
