Chelsea appears to be approaching the final stages of one of their most important transfers this summer.

No wasting time for any of the teams in the Premier League, as all of the English sides look to conclude all their business earlier than usual. The team off the mark pre-eminently was Chelsea. They are already looking to secure their third but not their final signing of this window.

With their transfer ban way behind them and resembling nothing more than a money-saving strategy, Frank Lampard and the Blues board have already acquired the services of Moroccon attacker Hakim Ziyech and German hitman Timo Werner.

Now they look to wrap up the deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the German wonderkid, Kai Havertz. Long has he been the subject of a switch from Leverkusen to London, with the fee the major stumbling block between the first link and now.

Thankfully for Havertz, who looked totally despondent in their final fixture of the season, things could all be over soon and he will become a Chelsea player. The German outfit made it extremely clear they would only consider doing business after their time in the cup has run out.

To no surprise, the player reacted badly to this and appeared to be far from enthusiastic to take the pitch, even though he scored their only goal of the game.  Bayer was eliminated from the Europa League 2-1 by favourites Inter Milan.

It is said the Blues and die Werkself have been in talks since last week, standing firm by their decision they will only sell after ending their 2019-2020 campaign.

The deal will be worth £70m plus add-ons. He is subject to a medical in the coming days and will become the most expensive German signing in the history of the game if this is the total they shake on. He will surpass Timo Werner as the most expensive Deutscher player.

The Stamford Bridge side has a deadline to finalise this purchase. That date is said to be August 28. This is when they will return to business on the training pitch. Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen will seek a rapid transaction.

The seller will want to take in the funds made from the sale and start investing in their summer targets with it. This is why they need business concluded sooner rather than later.
