Man United: Federico Chiesa is a good alternative to Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford
By Varun Aithal
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes him and fits the Norweigan’s policy.
It is not completely true though as Manchester United’s manager has never praised the player in public. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent his scouts to watch the Florentina winger play against AC Milan in February. The son of Enrico is one of the most sought after wingers in Italy.
On the other hand, the Norweigan is looking to rebuild the club which was in ruins a year ago. He is looking for ambitious workhorses and young players which Federico Chiesa ticks all the boxes. In the 2019/20 season, Manchester United struggled to breakdown compact defenses until Bruno Fernandes arrived in January.
The winger is pacy and a natural dribbler of the ball. Cutbacks and wicked crosses are the hallmarks of the Italian. He has attempted close to 51 crosses last season. He also created 1.4 key passes per game in Italy. These stats tell us a lot about the quality of the player and what he offers.

Rising through the youth ranks at Florentina, Federico Chiesa broke into the first team in 2016. The player made his first appearance against Juventus but his side lost 2-1.
Since then, Chiesa has played in 134 games out of which he has started 117 times. In these games, he has a pass percentage of close to 72%. This also means he has attempted more risky passes than the boring across field passes.
Moreover, he has 26 goals and 15 assists to his name in 134 games. In the 2019/20 season, the player registered 19 G/A in 34 appearances.
The versatility to play across the front line can help any side’s attacking dynamics. One hundred plus games for the 22-year-old is a sign of better things to come for the winger.
