Gunner fans appear to be quite positive about their summer transfer window and believe they could be prepping for the arrival of Wilfried Zaha.

A combination of Roy Hodgson’s recent words and old Mikal Arteta quotes has sent all Gooners into a frenzy. Tuesday was a lot like Monday. As soon as the final whistle of English football was blown, transfer talks, links, and rumours took the front page and went from 0-100 under 12 hours.

The Palace boss has come out and has finally admitted to defeat in the whole Zaha saga. For multiple, consecutive seasons the Ivorian has wanted out of Selhurst Park but each year he stayed put, either penning a new deal with the London club or just not making it out in time to complete a transfer out the club.

This has all changed with the summer window here. Roy has tried tirelessly to get Wilfried Zaha to stay but he and the club are now resigned with the player’s exit and are going to start preparing for life after Wilfried.

"It’s obviously affected him because his form in the last few weeks has really been quite poor considering what he is capable of doing. It’s a dilemma for the club and a dilemma for him if he is so set on leaving. If he feels he just does not want to be with us any more, that would be sad.We still like him very much; we can’t make him like us. This is a situation that only he and the club can sort out. I don’t have an answer. (Via: BBC Sport)"

Arteta’s words of the past match the future

Stange enough, the Gunners’ boss came out back in January and almost seemed to reply directly to Roy, before the English manager even spoke on the matter. The gift of foresight is strong with Mikel Arteta.

"I think he’s a terrific player and I think the impact he’s had in the Premier League in the last few years has been phenomenal. His ability to create chances on his own is unique. (Via: arsenal.com)"

More from Arsenal

Last summer, Arsenal was reported to be working hard on a deal to bring Zaha to the Emirates, but any late deal fell through before the window closed and the forward stayed at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal has been big admirers for the Premier League player and this was at the time of Unai Emery. The talks of a possible move to North London have been met with different reactions like they always are, and it appears some of the Gooners are happy if the club didn’t follow through with a Wilfried Zaha transfer.

And then you have those talking some sense, knowing quality is needed in depth and to challenge for places in the starting lineup. They need players with quality plus experience (especially Premier League experience) to compete with their rivals, and the Palace star is that man.

If Arsenal does pursue him they will definitely face competition from other EPL clubs as well as abroad. City rivals, Spurs, rebuilding Everton, and German side Borussia Dortmund are all said to be interested in Zaha’s services.

Where do you think he will end up and would you take him at Arsenal?
