If the Reds are looking to save funds but still be active in the market, they will be keeping a close and keen eye on the relegation battle.

The Anfield club acts like a flock of vultures, praying on those who will fall into the relegation pit. Their business for players in teams facing relegation or relegated has been outstanding, and absolutely, the most fruitful to date.

Andy Robertson has worked himself to being named one of the best left-backs in the league and in Europe. He came from relegated Hull City. Paid a measly price of £8m for the Scott. Georginio Wijnaldum, from Newcastle the season before in 2016 for £25m.

Went on to have a major hand in probably one of the most historical comebacks in Champions League history one night some time back at Anfield. One more player to name, Xherdan Shaqiri from the relegated and never to be seen again, Stoke City.

They signed the other European hero for £13.5 million in 2018 after triggering his release clause when they got demoted. Not used often but sometimes one of the best subs to come into the game for the Reds with his delivery or eye for goal.

Now the Reds have found possibly their next Robbo type of business with the talents of Sadio Mane. This business sounds more realistic than Liverpool being in for a Mbappe or Sancho for over £100m.

Watford takes on a lethal Man City later this evening followed by a trip to the Emirates to take on an in-form Arsenal, who is in search of European football. This spells almost certain doom for the Vicarage Road club.

They take on these challenges without a manager after the sacking of Nigel Pearson a couple of days ago. Now they will be at threat of losing some of their best players to some of the top flight’s top guns.

Liverpool find their next target – Ismaila Sarr

More from Premier League

One of the best Hornets this run was the African and club’s highest transfer, Ismaila Sarr. The Reds first loss of the season came at the hands of Watford and Sarr was an important figure on the day.

He unquestionably has the ability to be as good as Mane has been for the Reds and could obviously benefit and learn from his older countryman. But the Reds do face competition from their oldest rivals, Man United, who are in search of their Jadon Sancho alternatives, as they were reported to not want to pay in excess of £50m for the Dortmund winger.

"Liverpool are reportedly interested in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, who has been suggested to Manchester United as a potential Jadon Sancho alternative. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are said to be monitoring Sarr."

Also standing in the way of a possible deal is the bad blood between Reds and the Hornets. Previous reports insinuate the duo has always had trouble when doing deals across Europe.

"Any potential transfer could be scuppered by enmity between Watford and the Anfield club. The bad feeling dates back to 2016, when the Reds tried to sign Polish international Piotr Zielinski from Udinese. The Italian club is owned by the Pozzo family – who also own Watford – with Giampolo Pozzo the chairman of Udinese and his son, Gino, overseeing matters at Vicarage Road. Tough transfer window approaching for the Merseysiders coming up. Ismaila cost Watford £30 million, becoming the club’s record signing in 2019 from French club, Rennes. However, nothing is impossible for this club as we’ve come to see in the past.

If Sarr is smart and wants to be world class one day he needs to look at his international teammate, Sadio Mane and his rise to greatness as a Premier League winner and Champions League winner.
