Liverpool reportedly moving closer to singing Bayern Munich midfielder
The Reds are said to be close on bringing in recently targeted Thiago Alcântara from Bayern Munich.
Throughout the Premier League’s Project Restart Liverpool started to get heavily linked with one of Bayern’s most skilful midfielders, Thiago. The club then followed almost immediately after with the same story the spat prior to the links.
The Merseyside outfit simply does not have the funds to make any significant signings. The manager previously stated, depending on the funding and the situation of the pandemic, there will be no major incomings to improve the team from outside.
They will work from within the team, enhancing the squad at hand. That could all change now with the recent update on the England champions and their interest in the Spaniard. The deal is reportedly all but done, with a fee between the duo the only part of the agreement left to get passed.

"Bild reporting Jürgen Klopp has approved the signing of Thiago and Liverpool has agreed terms with the player. The fee is the only remaining hurdle, offer at €25m while Bayern want €40m..Liverpool sources cited a move for Thiago as “fanciful” two weeks ago, this will be interesting to see where the truth actually sits. Agent talk to interest other clubs or a genuine move for a Thiago. We’ll have to wait and see. (Via: @Chris78Williams)"
The report further states Thiago Alcântara has denied a contract renewal and is ready to explore other options including going back to Barcelona, where he thrived as a player from a young age. Adding to this, Munich has grown frustrated with current events and want clarity over his stance.
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool appear to have ended their title-winning celebrations early or in fact, they were forced to end them. Another loss since the restart cancelled out one of the most important records that would put them down in the history books.
That was overtaking Man City’s centurion of points record. It is a distance and elusive dream now, much like the Premier League title was for 30-years. So close but yet so far from it.
The loss not only indicated the shortfall in their points total for the season but also handed them their third loss for the term and second since the restart of English football.
Clear as daylight, Liverpool just had nothing else and resembled an old, familiar suit that was unable to breakdown a team putting 11 players behind the ball in their own box. The champions took 24 shots at goal with eight hitting the target, converting only one.
This proves it was not for the lack of trying but the lack of not having another plan to help unlock these defences. Burnley was the first straw, ultimately punching the wind out their sails. Taking both games into consideration, they’ve taken 48 shots at goal, only scoring a goal a game.
Poor goalscoring ratio for a team with one of the most deadly and threatening front three. Thiago will add flair, an extra goalscoring outlet, whether it be assisting the goalscorer or being the man to put it away. He can do it all!
He can put in a strong challenge. He can dictate the pace of the game and can manage it with his eyes closed. He is a top talent in his position and would make a world-class addition to any club in the top six of the EPL and Europe’s top guns.
The Reds need to put in the hours in the transfer market as they do on the pitch if they want to be fighting fit to retain their Premier League title.
