Anthony Martial has enjoyed a superb run of form this season for Manchester United.

Starting the season without replacing Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the market, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer entrusted Anthony Martial to lead Manchester United’s forward line. After an initial bump, the French striker has produced his best individual season, scoring 21 goals, thus far.

Now, the Norwegian is planning to structure his attacking game around Anthony Martial with an addition or two to push Man United’s standards a level further. Jadon Sancho has been envisaged as an able candidate to form a deadly front-three alongside Marcus Rashford and United’s number nine.

In addition to enforcing his attack, Solskjaer is keen to improve his defence, which has managed 24 clean sheets across all competitions till now, with a visible need of an intimidating centre-back to partner last summer signing, Harry Maguire.

On that note, Man United have been linked with an array of centre-backs in the past few weeks. Alessio Romagnoli, Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar, and Nathan Ake are some of those names rumoured to be on the Red Devils’ radar.

Recently, reports suggested that Milan Skriniar’s struggles to adjust in Antonio Conte’s three-defender system have prompted the Italian club to cash in on one of Europe’s hot defensive prospects. Previously quoted at €80m, the current valuation of the Slovenian centre-back has dropped to €60m, as previously mentioned.

According to our previous report, Manchester United could be presented with a chance to sign Skriniar, who was one of the defensive targets before the English club managed to sign Harry Maguire. It’s also expected that Man City could compete with the Red Devils for the services of the Slovenia international.

However, a jaw-dropping report from Italy has emerged which suggests Antonio Conte is monitoring Anthony Martial, who is enjoying an excellent season at Manchester United.

"Nerazzurri continue to follow the attacker, having done so for a couple of years now, even though the signing looks a lot harder in the current situation. It’s said that besides making big signings with a new budget, the Red Devils are also set to protect their stars with new contracts. (Calciomercato via Sport Witness)"

Previously interested in the player during his Chelsea tenure, Conte is keen to add the French hitman to his attacking ranks as Internazionale seek to end Juventus’ Italian dominance.

There could be multiple backlinks to this sensational story. Firstly, Lautaro Martinez, constantly linked with a move to Barcelona, faces a question mark over his Inter career. This could have triggered Conte to monitor multiple options including Martial and Sanchez.

Secondly, there is a major chance that Skriniar rumours have given rise to this story. Knowing Man United’s interest in their coveted central defender, the Italian club could use him as a potential makeweight to strike a deal for Anthony Martial with Manchester United.

Whatever the link, this story has the potential to be the saga of the upcoming summer transfer window.
