Antonio Conte is eager to have Man United’s Sanchez in his Internazionale squad for a long-term basis.

Despite making limited appearances for Inter, Alexis Sanchez has convinced Antonio Conte of his qualities. As things stand, the Italian manager considers the Chile international as an important figure in the attack alongside Romelu Lukaku.

With Barcelona hovering around Lautaro Martinez, the Nerazzurri have identified Sanchez as an ideal candidate to partner Lukaku in the attack. Since his arrival, Antonio Conte has targeted players from the Premier League, citing the intensity and fitness levels required to perform in England’s top-tier football.

More from Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez arrived in Milan on the back of a disastrous spell at Manchester United, where the player managed a paltry return of five goals and nine assists, struggling to find consistent game time due to recurring injury problems.

Hoping to resurrect his career at La Beneamata, the 31-year-old suffered yet another setback as in a dislocated left ankle, which needed surgery.

Yet, Conte, a long-term admirer of Sanchez, is eager to provide the Chilean with ample chances to prove himself at the club. Recently, we reported on Inter Milan agreeing to extend Sanchez’s stay at least till the Serie A campaign is concluded.

Man United, who are keen to cut ties with Sanchez too, were reluctant to extend the 31-year-old’s stay in Italy citing direct competition with Inter Milan in Europa League.

In spite of Red Devils’ stance on Alexis Sanchez, Inter Milan are planning a step further by offering a bid to secure the former Arsenal wizard on a permanent deal. The Italian club is prepared to pay around 20 million euros for ex-United’s number seven.

Now given Milan’s interest in the player, it would be fascinating to observe how the Nerazzurri structure Sanchez’s wages. Until now, Manchester United have been paying £175,000 of Chilean’s £390,000 weekly salary to appear in Internazionale colours.

Considering Inter’s financial limitations, Sanchez will have to sacrifice a major chunk of his hefty payroll to be a part of Conte’s exciting San Siro project.
