Big changes in the race for one of the best wingers in the Premier League, Adama Traore. Man City and Juventus are said to be leading.

A big shift in the Traore transfer saga, as well as a new name, has been thrown into the hat for a possible suitor. The leaders of the Serie A, Juventus and the previous Premier League champions, Man City, as well as his former owners Barcelona.

"Manchester City and Juventus have moved ahead of Barcelona in pursuit of Wolves winger Adama Traore, sources have told ESPN, with the 24-year-old set to spark a summer transfer battle if Nuno Espirito Santo’s team fail to qualify for the Champions League.Sources have told ESPN that, with three years left to run on his Wolves contract, Traore would remain at Molineux next season if the club can clinch a Champions League spot either through the Premier League or by winning the Europa League. (Via: ESPN)"

Afore the turn of events it was all Liverpool, Wolves, and Adama Traore. It was reported the Merseyside club was ready to submit their first official bid a few weeks back. Nothing has been reported since expecting the Reds’ financial status, and how bad the books are looking for any potential transfers next season.

More from Liverpool FC

If the latter is the case, then we can forget about Jurgen Klopp adding the wanted winger to their ranks and can expect him to be somewhere else or stay at Wolverhampton for another season. Wolves’ asking price has been set at £80 million according to reports coming from the club.

Juventus a strange link

The Old Lady has already made a big-money signing when they announced the arrival of Arthur from Barcelona. Judging by the Italians’ business in the past, they make one major transfer per season. In order from most recent it has been;

  • Arthur – Barcelone €72.00m (2020/2021)
  • Matthijs de Ligt – Ajax €85.50m (2019-2020)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid €117.00m (2018-2019)

They have signed players of high calibre to ply their trade at the Allianz Stadium. Players who have much to prove like Traore would normally make the switch for free (Juve normally waits for their contracts to run down) or get elite players in the latter stages of their careers on a cheap, barring Cristi when he left Madrid.

Would be shocked if they’d spend an additional €89m for another attacker, taking their total spent after the pandemic to €174,5m. Unheard of from the Italian side who usually does some of the best transfer business in the game.

Man City a real possibility

Pep’s team hasn’t been short of attacking options but a Leroy Sane replacement is vital to their title push next season. They have not only lost the German winger to German giants, Baryen Munich but will lose playmaker David Silva to retirement.

They have the money to spend on new players and have just freed up some more cash with the Sane sale and in wages. Depending on what the Citizen’s consider a priority will determine where they spend that money. Jack Grealish and a defender have been mentioned as an important signing to Pep and a position that must be filled for next season.

Where will Adama be at the end of the season? Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool, or Man City? Or will he still be at Wolves next season?
