While Chelsea makes moves in the transfer market, in-house players make their own requests.

The English forward and top goalscorer for Chelsea this season has demanded a wage increase of £130k-per-week in order to be aligned with always injured, Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is earning £120,000 a week. The question now… Is Tammy Abraham entitled to a pay increase?

The answer to this is a simple, YES! Tammy is one of two players in double digits this season. Bear in mind this is his maiden Premier League campaign. Willian is the other player to contribute to 20 goals across all competition.

More from Chelsea

"Tammy Abraham has told Chelsea that he wants a new deal worth £130,000 a week to match that of Callum Hudson-Odoi, his fellow academy graduate. The England forward has two years left on his £50,000-a-week deal and has been waiting to see what Chelsea do in the transfer market this summer before determining his future. If he does sign a new contract he will look to use as a barometer Hudson-Odoi’s salary of £120,000 a week. (Via: thetimes.co.uk)"

Tammy Abraham season in numbers

  • Matches played – 40 Matches
  • Starts – 31 Starts
  • Minutes played – 2,711
  • Goals scored – 16 Goals
  • Assists – 4 Assists

The forward averages just under a goal a game with 0.53 goals per game. The player he is comparing his wage demand too has a much lower goalscoring ratio with 0.21 goals per game. He [Callum Hudson-Odoi] has played 26 games across all competitions, scoring three and assisting a further five goals. Comparing the pair’s stats, one can only raise some eyebrows.

Both players missed some game time thanks to injuries. Obviously Hudson’s was a longer layoff from football than Tammy’s was but this helps justify his £130k-per-week contract request. Why there is even more reason for him to get paid the moola, Odoi is only 18-years-old.

How in the world is he and Kepa Arrizabalaga (£150k-per-week wages) getting a better salary than him? So two players who have contributed less than Tammy Abraham gets better money? No sense at its best with this business.

Timo Werner highest paid Chelsea player

After the German signed for the Stamford Bridge Blues, he became the highest-paid player at the club, earning £170-a-week. He says it was Lampard who lured him to the Bridge and join the London side, but we all know it was the many pounds he will bathe in.

He must still play his first game in the Premier League and has been made the biggest earner. Tammy has led the line exceptionally with an odd dip in form. He played 30 EPL  games and scored 14 goals in that 30.

He also enjoyed a run where he scored seven goals in three games. This would get any striker in a top-six club with his numbers 130k salary. What’s the hesitation, pay the 21-year-old the money?

Should Tammy Abraham get what he is asking for from the club?
