Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract extension demands revealed
Aubameyang with his sublime goalscoring tally ranks among Europe’s elite forwards.
With less than a year left on his contract at Arsenal, noises suggest Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is considering his options for a move away from London in the impending transfer windows. Not only is the Gabon international seeking better financial options but also footballing projects which are close to competing for major silverware.
Considering the stage at which his career currently stands, Aubameyang, 31, is completely entitled to weigh up his options before committing to a deal – which could be his last big pay-check before retiring and his final move in his playing career.

Recently, there have been questions surrounding Arsenal’s number 14 regarding his future. In one of those interviews, he gave a cryptic reply by saying;
"I haven’t had an offer recently, but I did speak to the club quite a few months ago, and they know why nothing has happened yet.They have the keys. It is up to them to do their work and, after that, we will see how things go. It’s a turning point in my career and I want to be honest with everyone. It’ll certainly be a very difficult decision to make. (Telefoot)"
After becoming the fastest Arsenal player to 50 goals, he was praised for his performances and it led to his future being interrogated amid Bukayo Saka‘s new contract. But the Gabon international, instead, remained tight-lipped and congratulated his teammate on extending his Arsenal stay.
Amid all the talks, recent reports from ESPN suggest the Arsenal skipper has placed his contract demands in front of the club’s hierarchy. The understood wage demand is expected to be in the region of £250,000-per-week in a three-year-long agreement.
Given the age-profile of Aubameyang, Arsenal might be reluctant to meet their skipper’s demands. Also, the contract situation once considered to being going smoothly before the pandemic hit – could have an implication on the club’s transfer budget this summer.
With pressing need to invest substantial money into the squad, Arsenal’s chiefs would have to gauge their finances astutely before handing their club captain an upscale paycheck.
Furthermore, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Juventus are said to be interested in Aubameyang should he decide against extending his stay at Arsenal. Gunners’ manager Mikel Arteta is relaxed over the ongoing talks between the club’s bosses and his skipper over a contract renewal.
"I am very positive with that. Every time I speak with him [Aubameyang] he is really happy where he is, he is very settled and his family are happy. Hopefully, he will be on board for a long time.He can see what we are trying to do and hopefully he can evolve as well some parts of his game he might feel he can improve. We are pushing him every day. I leave that to the football club and the senior people that finalise the contracts. (ESPN)"
