Comparing Wolves and Manchester United’s schedule to end the season
By Adam Bakr
Manchester United’s schedule
With all respect to the sides, United will face, it’s a welcomed schedule for the Red Devils. They do not face a team in the top half of the table until the final game and have been in good form as well. United is undefeated in 15 matches, and Bruno Fernandes has still not lost a game. Paul Pogba is also back in the line-up, and United looks a great side with both in the team.
Similar to Wolves, United have a chance to do right on some early season disappointments. United failed to beat any of their next five opponents in the reverse fixture, but it seems like a completely different United side now.
A few of their future opponents are in the midst of a relegation battle, which could see them play with further intensity to save their season. This starts with hosting Bournemouth and a trip to Villa Park., the teams currently sitting in 18th and 19th place, respectively. United lost to Bournemouth 1-0 and tied Aston Villa 2-2 last time around.
From there United have a home game against Southampton and a trip to Crystal Palace. Southampton looks a dangerous side on the road this season, particularly striker Danny Ings, who is chasing the Golden Boot.

They tied with United 1-1 in the early weeks of the season. Palace plays United and Wolves consecutively, and could heavily impact the European race in this stretch. They shocked United with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in August.
Next is another team in the relegation mix, and another one that beat United earlier this season. West Ham United travel to Old Trafford on the penultimate matchday, who beat United 2-0 in September.
It’s again important to say United has since got onto a great run of form, and it’s hard to base the next fixtures off of the last one. With the expectations United has for themselves, it’s not a stretch to say they should win all five games, especially given the importance.
To end the season, United travel to Leicester City. Leicester is still in poor form but could turn it around by then. Their gap over Chelsea and the teams fighting for fifth is evaporating, and a win could be required on the season’s finale.
As is the case with Wolves versus Chelsea, it’s far from an ideal game to close the season for either of the sides involved. If the form of the two sides competing for fifths continues, it could very well be the final matchday that decided who gets the final Champions League spot.
