CDMs: Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have played well for the Blues. Loftus-Cheek made all of his appearances last season and was amazing. He made an immediate impact and was a key man in Chelsea’s run to winning the Europa League.

Unfortunately, Loftus-Cheek picked up a major injury that has kept him out for more than a year. Hopefully, he will be able to make his season debut this coming Sunday against Aston Villa.

More from Chelsea

Billy Gilmour sprung out into the limelight after 2 great performances which resulted in back-to-back Man of the Match awards for him. The 19-year-old made his breakthrough against Liverpool in the FA Cup. He was selected to play against Everton and was brilliant again.

Lampard put his faith in Gilmour and he made Lampard proud. Gilmour stepped up and showed some nice skills. Some said he has a lot of similarities in playing style to N’Golo Kanté.

CAM: Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley is another player who has not gotten much playing time this season under Frank Lampard’s new system. He only joined Chelsea a few years ago but has fallen out of proportion since.

Right before the Premier League was halted, Barkley was included a couple of times in the starting XI and he impressed. It is a shame how talents like Ross Barkley will not get much playing time as they are apart of an incredibly talented team.
