No secret and widely known. Chelsea can confirm the capture of RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner.

Frank Lampard and Chelsea have verified they have completed the signing of hot German prospect, Timo Werner. The club has affirmed today, they have settled on a £53 million fee for the deal to go through.

The striker will sign a huge contract worth £175,000-per-week, making him the highest-paid player in the Chelsea team. The agreement is said to run for five-years long. As per the reports, the Stamford Bridge is far from done are expected to do more business following their second signing for the summer.

More from Chelsea

It wasn’t too long before the saga ended

Now the other day, Timo was in love with Liverpool and the club in love with him. Move on a few moths and the pair has broken up with Chelsea stepping in as the rebound guy. This is a brief description of the transfer saga to date.

Unfortunately, Stamford Bridge was not the first and desired location for the striker. On the contrary, he wanted to stay in Germany and be part of the eight-times Bundesliga champions team, Bayern Munich. A deal could not be struck between the two German outfits, leading to Munich pulling of the deal altogether.

The Allianz club valued Werner lower than what the asking price was. They valued him no more than £45m (€50m), their counterpart wanted £54m(€60m). This, plus the fact they have more important transfers known to them, they killed their interest quite early.

Move on a few weeks and Liverpool and Chelsea is the pair at it, fighting for the striker’s signature. After the words from Werner came to surface, it was almost certain the Reds were going to capture him. You got that Virgil van Dijk feels from all of the romance.

Though, if you know Liverpool well enough, nothing is ever clear in the transfer window with them and their possible targets. Because of the problems caused by the sweeping pandemic, Jurgen Klopp had to cut ties and allow Frank Lampard to jump in full-circle.

With a bit of allowance, they managed to seal the deal for the player, giving none of their rivals a chance to come in with a late steal. Chelsea can now authenticate the captures of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Proven goal-getter

Timo is a proven goalscorer and pass-master. The 24-year-old has scored 32 goals and provided 13 assists in his 43 games for the club this season. He should be walking into the starting line-up with these numbers and his expected salary.

To remember, Werner is the only player to score a hat-trick and provide a hat-trick of assists in the same Bundesliga match. Remarkable! This one of the reasons why we should all be extremely excited about him joining the Premier League.
