It’s a sad day for Reds who wanted to see Liverpool pull off the marquee signing of Timo Werner.

Liverpool’s snail-like performance in the Timo transfer saga has cost the club dearly. The striker now admits he is happy to join Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, with them happy to pay whatever is required to gain his services.

This coming immediately after the news clubs most act fast before they lose the opportunity to sign him for £50 million or less. On Wednesday it was announced all parties interested in signing RB Leipzig’s star striker, Timo Werner, had 12 days left to get him at a low.

This was due to the purchase of Mauro Icardi by PSG. Players who are his age or younger could be sold for higher amounts, despite the frailties in the market because of COVID-19. It was predicted for a long while Anfield would be called home sooner or later for Werner. Things have progressed differently, however.

"Just been told that Liverpool have pulled out of the “Werner-deal”, because of “financial reasons”. Team Werner have then turned to Chelsea who have presented Werner a package of good money of course, but also his position at the team. Clubs still need to agree a fee though. Liverpool prepping for what?

After Liverpool has now pulled out, you have to consider their speech about their financial status and hard it will be to convince their priority targets to join. What exactly is the Merseyside prepping their people for?

A disappointing transfer window with no signings? Players are on their way out of Anfield and their competitors are reinforcing their cavalries. It won’t be the same league next season. In fact, it will be far more competitive, and Man City will be the last of their worries.

Chelsea shoot and they score

This is gold for Frank Lampard and his Chelsea side. This will help in building a total challenger out of the Blues. The only person not in favour of this is every Liverpool supporter and Tammy Abrahams. He has direct competition if/when this happens.

By the sounds of things, the German transfer will not be playing second best to the young Englishman, who did well to establish himself as the Bridge’s leading man. A contract of £200k-per-week is not for a bench player or backup striker.

Next. Liverpool’s Timo time is running down. dark

Nonetheless, the rebuild of Stamford Bridge continues and it appears Chelsea are the ones makes making the moves this summer. If this goes through, this will be their second signing following the announcement of Hakim Ziyech.
