Premier League: Small step backwards after Spurs confirm COVID case
The latest in the Premier League and its Project Restart process. Spurs pick up an infection in the next testing run.
Not the end of the world but not specifically the news required while everything is moving forward with velocity. As per the numbers, of the 1,197 players and other Premier League members tested, there was one confirmed case.
The COVID case comes out of North London. Afore this, the Premier League were happy to announce everybody everywhere from Southern England to Northern England, all players and none playing members tested negative.
It displayed the English league was on a steady recovery. There is no mention of who is the positive test, but we know the story from this point on… A seven-day self-isolation period for the recipient.

"Tottenham have had one positive coronavirus result in the latest round of testing by the Premier League, the club say. That person will now self-isolate for seven days.Due to medical confidentiality, the individual’s name will not be disclosed. Other Project Restart update
No VAR is a pass
FIFA has informed all of the leagues in Europe who have chosen to restart, as well as utilise VAR, can scrap it for the remainder of the season. Of the lot, the English Premier League is considering not to change now. [Sky Sports]
They started the season with the system, it would be unfair to change the ruling now. If there were any calls wrongly judged by the officials, it would signal the end of the world, and we have already endured/are enduring a pandemic. No need for a fan meltdown.
All or nothing meeting for Premier League clubs
This week Friday is the meetings of all meetings. Discusses on curtailing the league will be at the top of the agenda, plus what will be lost if they do take the decision to end things.
The Premier League is due their fixture list for the first round of Premier League games taking place from June 17, the preliminary date set. They must confirm times of kickoff and submit their broadcasting plans soon. [BBC Sport]
