Jadon Sancho’s move to the Premier League could come at a later stage with Borussia Dortmund convinced he is staying beyond the summer.

It is no secret and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know it will take more than a handful of victories to convince England’s brightest talent to swap leagues. Man United‘s move for Sancho could be on standby until further notice.

The recent update in the Jadon transfer saga doesn’t mean we will not be observing the player strutting his stuff in the English Premier League. All it means is, we might have to wait a bit longer than the summer.

If a move doesn’t happen during this window, it is bound to happen later on in life. Jadon Sancho has dropped hints at a possible exit prior to this but things can change overnight. One minute he’s on a plane and on his way to Carrington Road. The next, he is in a Liverpool t-shirt, signing for Chelsea.

More from Manchester United

"Borussia Dortmund expect Jadon Sancho to stay at the club this summer. However, a source close to the 20-year-old has told Sky Sports News a move away from Dortmund is still likely as he is unlikely to extend his current contract, which expires in 2022.Dortmund have maintained they will only sell if the deal is right for the club and the player, who is valued in excess of £100m. In March, Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said the club would not stand in Sancho’s way if he wanted to leave in the summer."

Playing Champions League football takes priority over any other competition. The Bundesliga is in the top three leagues in Europe. The league is quite well-contested. Moving abroad wouldn’t be justified if there were no CL football for the youngster.

Man United’s current situation (despite the COVID-19 matters) shows more promise than dismay. They sit three points adrift fourth place and have a second avenue to venture into the Champions League (if/when the Europa League resumes), if they fail to grab a spot in the top four.

No guarantees they’d make it with everything going on at the moment, leaving the door open for others to step in and snatch him up. It could also force him to stay put, which in actual fact is not a bad choice.

"You always have to respect what the player wants. We already said before the coronavirus pandemic that our preference is for Jadon to remain with us.We’re talking about an incredible talent, someone who has made some really good decisions in moving abroad. He took a real risk and it’s paid off; he’s playing in the Champions League and has played amazing football for club and country. (Via: Sky Sports)"

What could cloud his judgement

The arrival of January signings Erling Braut Haland and Emre Can are game changes and mind menders, in my book. If you were a player on the way out, you’d be questioning your preferences, and what are the reasons for your departure.

Home is where the heart is for the Englishman but surely he should be looking at Dortmund’s ambitions and how they match his. Dortmund fights on all fronts and will always be striving for accolades. Sancho could bring their first Bundesliga title in eight years if he stays put.
