Once again we write the narrative that Olivier Giroud is ready to commit his future to Stamford Bridge for another year, keeping him at the club until 2021.

Several days ago it was widely reported that soon to be out-of-favour, Olivier Giroud, will be on his way to Italy, where he will join up with ex-manager, Antonio Conte. It was said the striker has a gentleman’s agreement in place with Inter, and after his current deal runs out with the Blues, he moves over to the San Siro.

In all honesty, this is probably the sixth time (I’m being very modest here) there has been a report about the player wanting to add another year to his contract at Chelsea. It’s the same news before a different transfer window opens.

More from Chelsea

"We read and repeat the same news as that of January and afore the window opened. However, this time it should work out all good with his contract expiring the end of the season.Olivier Giroud has already agreed personal terms with Inter Milan and will leave Chelsea as a free agent in the summer, according to reports in Italy.Reports surfaced earlier this month that Chelsea were looking to extend his deal beyond the end of the current season, but Tuttosport now claim that Giroud has made up his mind to move to Serie A.He would therefore move to Inter on a free transfer, with the report claiming he is set to sign a two-year contract with Antonio Conte’s men with an option of a third year. Back at point A for Giroud

This is the same back and forth we experienced back in January and last year September. As per reports, Frank Lampard has been very impressed with the forward’s work rate and wishes to reward him with a new contract.

The World Cup winner stepped in and did his job well in the absence of Tammy Abrahams. If COVID-19 hadn’t taken place, we would have probably seen the striker’s most productive spell as a Chelsea player.

"Lampard praised the former Arsenal player’s attitude at the end of the January transfer window despite being out of favour. Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is set to extend his contract, keeping him at the club until 2021.Olivier Giroud has been incredible in this window as a professional and a man. We all know there has been interest but he has been impeccable in that period and I’ve got huge respect for him for that, and as a player.  (Via: BBC Sports)"

Don’t see Olivier Giroud staying

Yes, every player has their price. Olivier is after money at his age of 33-years-old. Guaranteed first-team action will be none existent at his so-called old age. The Blues are also set on making a number of new transfers in attacking positions, with a new striker a priority.

Inter’s supposedly are gearing up for life without star forward, Lautaro Martínez. If they offload the striker in a big-money transfer, they’d be able to pay the wage demand the Frenchman has in mind.

He’d really be shooting himself in the foot if he stayed. Inter will not waste money on a player on his way out. They want to complete business while saving some money. If Lampard gets competition for Tammy in the market, Olivier falls further down the pecking order.
