The president of UEFA has given all of Liverpool and the Reds of Merseyside everything to beam about in these trialling times of COVID-19. The peril of all their hard work going to waste has subsided now with his wise words.

There is no news that would make anybody happier around the world right now except if somebody were to announce COVID-19 has passed. That or some scientist has invented the cure for the Coronavirus and the worst is behind us all.

That’s the type of news we are all waiting for. Although, for others who drape in the blood-red of Liverpool with the liver bird on the chest, there is news that could be equally important to them. The recent message from UEFA’s president Aleksander Ceferin gives a bit more clarity in times where most of the future remains dark and concealed.

The destiny of each team in the league has been so uncertain it placed doubt over the title race, relegation selection, and promotion parties. It was almost indisputable at one point during the rise of cases in the Coronavirus era, that all of the leagues were going to be left unfulfilled. This was because of the football boss’ last words prior to Tuesday’s statement.

More from Liverpool FC

"We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in mid-May, in June or at the end of June. If then we wouldn’t be able to do any, the season would probably be lost. [Via: The Top Flight]"

This was said close to the end of last month. Now he’s clarified things a bit more for all of us wanting more substantial answers, letting us recognise plans B or C could (or even would) see the Reds lift the title before the world ends.

"I see no way for Liverpool to stay untitled. If the championship resumes, they will almost certainly win it – theoretically, it has not yet reached the guaranteed level, but it is practically close. However, if it could not be played, it would also be necessary to announce the results in some way and find some key on how the champions should be determined. And, of course, again I do not see a scenario in which that would not be LiverpoolI understand that fans will be disappointed if it happens in an empty stadium or even at the green table, but I believe they will win the title one way or another."

One man’s pain is another man’s gain

In this case, all of Liverpool’s pain would have been a massive gain for those against them lifting their first Premier League title in three decades. Most noticeably, Gary Neville and Man United supporters.

Well the jokes on them! It appears the shoe’s on the other foot and all the Liverpudlian will get the last laugh. The worry of an English Top Flight title is no longer hanging and waiting on the verdict of Ceferin. FIFA have already given enough confidence leagues will be allowed to presume and decide.

His dialect on Tuesday speaks in various tongues to many cultures but specifically to the football culture. It was not the way he said it. It’s how those took it who received the news. For some, they will hope it remains an idiom. For Liverpool, they feel his words are deducible and they will wear a premature grin in silence or out loud, waiting for that big announcement.

He [Ceferin] makes logical sense because of the Reds being 25 points clear in the Premier League standings, with nine games left in the 2019-2020 campaign to be played, and are two wins away from rightfully securing their first Premier League crown in 30 years.

Aleksander’s optimist gives us hope

"I’m an optimist. I am optimistic that we will see the conclusion of the Spanish championship, I am optimistic that we will see the conclusion of the Italian one, and I am optimistic in general.Of course, I cannot guarantee anything, I cannot promise anything. It will all depend on the situation in the individual countries, it will all depend on whether the circumstances are good enough for you to avoid endangering anyone by playing football. [Via: Sky Sports]"

There’s something wrong with you if you believe for one bit it wouldn’t be the most appropriate outcome to hand Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side the Premier League title, end or no end. Be like the president Aleksander Ceferin and be optimistic.
