Alisson has had a hand in everything positive since arriving in Merseyside. He has established himself as one of the best, if not, the best stopper in the world. When he isn’t around things go foggy at the back for the Reds.

Alisson is one of the two players in discussion for a new deal at the club. He was desperately missed in their Champions League defeat. Late, late errors by second-choice Adrian in the 3-2 Anfield frustration was literally the cause of their exit.

His absence was felt in this one especially. During the campaign when he was sidelined for eight games after the opening day, Adrian stepped in was assuring sometimes but nervy on most occurrences.

This gave us an insight into why he is so important and why the club paid so much for him. It also gives enough evidence to why the club wants him to pen a new deal. Becker’s short time at Anfield has seen him achieve crazy numbers.

He has won 48 of the 58 games he has played, losing only a pair of games. Once against Man City last season and once against Watford this season.  He has kept his goalmouth clean on 31 counts, conceding 33 times only (WHAT! GET OUT OF HERE!).

Virgil van Dijk: Any partner will do

The second player in talks for a new deal is Virgil and probably the future club captain after Henderson and Milner’s days are done at the club. That’s why tying him down to a new contract is the only selection for FSG right now.

Since his arrival his made a 148 Premier League appearances, won a staggering 91 games, losing as little as 28 times. With him placed in the very heart of the defence, Klopp has had the luxury of using any partner to mass effect alongside van Dijk.

Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Dejan Lovren have all improved with him playing next to them. Gomez and the Dutchman have enjoyed the best spell together this season, having gone eight games without letting in one goal at one point.

That’s 720 minutes of no goals allowed by Liverpool’s backline. Amazing stuff.
