Liverpool is said to be busy with bumper new contract offers for their most prized positions in the team, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.

It has been a long but impressive run under the supervision of Jurgen Klopp. His time at Anfield has turned a whole five-years-old and during this period he has built an empire at Anfield.

Liverpool and Jurgen are now recognised as a match made in heaven but would have never been deemed that half a decade ago, because of all the trouble the club from Merseyside had to endure.

No, it was not all clear blue skies and rainbows. In fact, only after many stormy seasons does the sunshine for them now. Afore the unexpected spread of the COVID-19 infection across the globe the Reds were leading the Premier League by 25 points and completing the journey to their first league title in 30-years.

This could mean one thing, God could be a Man United supporter and he is trying in every way to stop the Reds from gaining EPL glory. Before the season came to an abrupt pause due to the pandemic in Europe, Liverpool endured probably their worst couple of weeks this term.

Liverpool’s worst period of the season

Liverpool was on route to managing the unthinkable but all of it came to a sudden and unexpected end. It was all down to a couple of defying moments.

A loss to Watford waved the end to their unbeaten run in the PL. Then they got kicked out the FA Cup by Chelsea, spoiling their chances of winning the treble. Finally, losing their right to defend their Champions League title after getting thumped by Atletico Madrid.

It was a heartbreaking end to a marvellous run while collecting silverware along the way. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and learning is all these amazing Reds can do from this experience.

During the downfall, it was clear what has been the problem. A thing Liverpool worked on hard to get right while playing Klopp’s proclaimed heavy metal football. Issues that have been the thorn in this side’s back for many seasons afore the German’s arrival and in the early stages of his tenure. That is their horrible defence!

There is no doubting this is Klopp and Edward’s best work in the transfer market, signing Alisson and Virgil. The main two pillars installed under the Jurgen construction plan. The money spent has already been made back three times already.
