One of the teams most affected by the recent pandemic taking place worldwide is the Reds. The wait of 30 years for a Premier League title might be an even longer wait, considering all that is happening.

Liverpool’s star Virgil van Dijk has spoken out about how lonely and disheartening it would be to win the Premier League title after so many years in front of an empty Anfield. And one has to admit, following an abandoned Anfield is a trophy-winning parade with no fans present.

Honestly, who would want that after waiting 30 years for the one title that’s been eluding you since its change of name? The feeling would be similar to that of receiving that one gift you can only get when you reach a certain age (let’s say 13-years-old). Your parents have boosted you for this one gift and the time has finally come.

You eventually get it and then BOOM… You get robbed of it the next day, Boxing Day. I would surely cry. This is the type of feeling van Dijk has expressed when talking about what the fans will be missing out on.

"If we won it in an empty stadium and the fans weren’t there, I’d be gutted for them. Obviously, if there are no fans at Anfield, then it will be a bit of a blow – no one wants to play games without the fans.Until a decision is made on how we go on from here, then we just have to deal with it. But when it happens, we are still bringing the title to our fans, definitely. (Via: Sky Sports)"

“We’re going to win the league”

They’ve already been singing “we’re going to win the league” since the Reds took a substantial lead at the summit of the table. A point-gap that has seen them pull train-lengths away from their closest title rivals, Man City.

Over the 29 Premier League fixtures played out, Liverpool took 82 points, winning 27, losing one, and drawing one. They are 25 points ahead of Guardiola’s boys and are literally a few points away from being crowned as the new champions of England.

Next. Madrid is coming for Mane in the summer. dark

Mostly, it would be a major gut punch if the team who worked tirelessly to put themselves in this situation under Jurgen Klopp would not get their deserved title. It would be a damn shame! Beating every club they’ve faced in the EPL this season is worthy of a title in any league.
