Jurgen Klopp has confirmed club captain Jordan Henderson is out for at least three weeks with a hamstring issue. Liverpool can cope without the midfielder.

Liverpool has many things to overcome without the service of captain Jordan Henderson for the next three weeks. They have six games coming up that involves the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League, and they must face these individual tests without their club’s leader on the pitch.

"Hendo, it could have been worse. How we all know, it was a hamstring. We heard of different hamstring injuries now around in the Premier League – Harry Kane, for example. It’s not that bad.But he will be out, I think, for three weeks or so, which is not cool. But how we see it, we were still lucky. That’s it."

Liverpool loses Jordan to injury after being subbed off in their Champions League loss midweek to Atletico Madrid. When talking about the situation the manager went one further speaking about his changes and that there’s little need to panic about what needs to be done in his absence.

"Changes, I could, because apart from Hendo all the other boys are fit. But Tuesday-Monday [between games], there is absolutely no need to do it.That’s enough time, longer than we usually have. We will see who will start, maybe we will make more changes – but not because of the Atletico game."

The important period the captain will be missing

More from Liverpool FC

Liverpool has ample cover in midfielder with many injury returns and players staying fit for longer. It was only recently that Klopp welcomed back Sadio Mane, Fabinho, and Naby Keita. This at least eased the pain of losing the Englishman.

The players required to fill in for the midfielder are more than adequate to take on the job. Alex Oxlade-ChamberlainGeorginio Wijnaldum, James Milner are just three of the names able to slot in for the captain, with Milner always the first choice because of the captaincy.

"Hendo is exceptionally important, not only football-wise but for some other reasons as well which hopefully everybody knows. But we still have options there and that’s good.Yes, it’s a chance of course, a chance for all of them. But there would have been a chance anyway, Hendo wouldn’t have played all the games from now until the end of the season. (Via: liverpoolfc.com)"

With this being said, it’s clear to see Klopp has ample cover in the position and just needs to pick the right man to take on West Ham before thinking about any other fixtures. The only aspect of Henderson’s game that will be hard to duplicate is his gigantic mentality.

dark. Next. Does any EPL club stand a chance to sign Werner

This is the perfect test to see if the Premier League leaders can push on their unbeaten run and march into the next round of the FA Cup when they meet Chelsea, as well as overcome the deficit when welcome Atletico to Anfield for the second leg of the Champions Round of 16.
