Done Deal: Hakim Ziyech is an excellent addition to Lampard’s Chelsea
A whole month went by and nothing transpired. A listing of reinforcements was reported to be priority signings and January was the date they would enrol.
Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho, Isco, and other rumours continued to spread. It was even said Chelsea had a £150m transfer kitty for Frank to lose his mind within the winter window. Nothing materialised and striker Tammy Abrahams was left to do his duties with a concerning ankle injury.
None of their targets gave the slightest hints of an exit from their current owners despite the endless parleys. Each player, obviously happy to see the respective seasons out and think about their future after playing for honours.
This has left Chelsea sweating top four

Despite the turn of the year being unkind to the Blues, they have been struggling since the end of November. December’s busy period exposed many holes and expressed the need for depth. Their six-run win is long forgotten and the time for worry is on.
They haven’t put together more than three consecutive wins in over two months now. After only losing a set of fixtures for almost three months in the early stages, they’ve now gone and lost eight games, six of those occurring from November to January.
The need for new names is imperative for these type of fights, top-four deciders, Premier League title contention, in fact, even your team’s relegation showdowns should be bolstered with new names if you want a chance of surviving. That or a managerial switch.
They now sit an uncomfortable two points above Sheffield United with a game in hand, and only four points on top of Jose Mourinho’s Spurs. Leaving things too exciting in the closing stages of the league campaign.
Hakim Ziyech is a great addition
The Dutch-born Moroccan international is well-known for his fairytale run in the Champions League with Ajax last season. Manager Erik ten Hag assembled a magnificent side that battled right through to the semi-finals, defying all odds.
Though, in saying this, they were one of the best-attacking sides. A team consisting of Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek, David Neres, André Onana, and other rising stars. Hakim Ziyech himself was a significant plug for goals and assists. His time as a professional has seen him conjure up 249 appearances for club and country.
All this at the young age of 26-years-old. Already one of the first names on the team return, Hakim has AFCON, Champions League, and Europa League knowledge. It was only a matter of when and not if he was going to leave the Dutch giants, Ajax.
