Transfer war for want-away striker Olivier Giroud – Spurs said to be favourites
Olivier Giroud has put himself in the middle of a transfer battle. Both Tottenham and Lazio are said to be favourites to sign the Chelsea striker.
After weeks of links between Giroud and old boss, Antonio Conte, a deal to move to Inter Milan fell through and broke down. We’ve now reached the end of the transfer phase and the forward still wants out of Chelsea.
Chelsea and Lampard are said to be hesitant on the move, trying to block him from leaving the club. This is because there is no depth in the position as injury concerns grow over striker Tammy Abraham.
Tottenham reportedly have a deal with Giroud

Reports came out saying Spurs have agreed on a deal to bring the striker to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. If this is true, Giroud would have pulled off the ultimate London ride and it won’t go down well with Arsenal supporters.
You would think the Frenchman would show loyalty and snub a move to Arsenal’s North London rivals, however, he is so desperate to move away from Stamford Bridge, any move will do. Jose Mourinho and Spurs care little about this and require the service of a number 9.
Kane will be out for a while on the side. Spurs do not want to make the mistake of not filling the hole left by the injured captain, and Giroud is the perfect option. He is cheap and that’s all Daniel Levy needs in a transfer.
Lazio is also playing with
Lazio has also entered the race for the goalscorer. They have reportedly made a last-ditch bid in hope they can steal him away from Chelsea and Spurs. No report has been concrete, with Chelsea appearing to hold all the cards.
They are waiting on their target, who is said to be Dries Mertens from Napoli. If they get their man, they will with pleasure let go of want-away, Olivier. The player has even threatened to boycott training to help get out.
