Arsenal makes Cedric Soares the next and what looks to be their last signing for the January transfer window. Depth added now time for them to work on their poor defence.

Arsenal has just announced the arrival of Cedric Soares from Southampton on loan till the season end. The player is said to see the remainder of his contract at St. Mary’s out at the Emirates. He will join Pablo Mari as the Gunners’ second signing of the January window.

Is this Mikel Arteta‘s pull? Or are the players just excited to try on the Arsenal challenge happening at the Emirates? Another new name added to the ranks, this time a fullback with lots of European and Premier League experience.

The Gunners have not lacked shooting power but rather defensive quality. Clean sheets have been hard to conjure up for them. They also hold the stat for the worst defensive team of the big-six clubs and have been looking to get away from that stat with Arteta at the helm.

The changes at the back have shown positive signs in recent weeks, but injuries and lack of depth have forced them to dip into the transfer market. There has been no talk of further signings even though Mykola Matviyenko was heavily linked at first and said to have a deal in place.

The only worry is of players outgoing. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Dani Ceballos the two surrounding by exit rumours.
