It’s the first meeting between Premier League leaders Liverpool and bottom dwellers West Ham United. Is this David Moyes time to shine in his second Hammers stint?

Same story for both clubs coming into this Matchday 18 catchup fixture. West Ham off the back of a defeat and Liverpool remain unbeaten in the 2019-2020 EPL campaign. If Liverpool takes another one, they will definitely become the best Reds side ever assembled in a Premier League era, or in life, in fact.

Taking a lot of heat for the FA Cup situation, they turn everybody’s attention to Premier League action where those against Klopp and his Reds will be hoping they suffer their first loss this season.

West Ham’s poor problems

More from Liverpool FC

Four games without a victory across all competitions for David Moyes. The swap between him and Manuel Pellegrini seems a futile operation by the club’s hierarchy. They have collected one point from six fixtures.

That’s 17 points missed out on. Defensively, they’ve gotten a lot worse conceding 14 goals in those six outings leading to their big clash tonight at home.

Only Norwich (47), Aston Villa (45), and Southampton (42) have conceded more goals than the Hammers. They too must try to penetrate the best defensive team in the league. They have only scored half the amount (27) of Liverpool’s 54 goals, failing to score a single goal in two of the last four outings.

Making it even harder for Moyes to not repeat the last meeting he had with Liverpool where they lost 4-1, he has seven injury concerns to first-team players. The Hammers have not won this fixture in the last six, taking only two points from them, as well as conceding 21 goals and scoring as little as five.

Returning goalkeeper, Darren Randolph will be hoping he brings his luck to Liverpool, having not lost a game to the Reds whenever he has come up against them. Two of those games he was playing for West Ham.

Highly unlikely we will get to see midfielder, Tomas Soucek, who has only just passed his medical on Tuesday.

Liverpool’s historic Premier League run

If Klopp’s Liverpool go on and take all the points, they will, for the first time in the Reds’ history, have beaten every team in a single Premier League run. Furthermore, It will take their tally to 70 points from the 72 played for.

Another victory also takes them to 41 league games undefeated, as well as taking 15 straight PL wins. Worryingly, they must reach these achievements without Sadio Mane, who will be missing for a couple of games, returning in time fo their away clash to Norwich and their Champions League knockout opener.

But Klopp has many men back from injury and has multiple options to use in the absence of one of their best players this season. All eyes will be on the other two, Roberto Firmino, who has scored in 10 away games, and Mohamed Salah, who has contributed to three goals (2 goals + 1 assist) in his four showings.

Another amazing stat for the club travelling from Anfield… They have only conceded one goal in their last eight Premier League games, home and away.
