4. Chelsea

Chelsea has struggled with inconsistency all season. They have had moments of youthful exuberance and angst. Their last month has been full of holiday angst.

In their last five matches, they beat both Arsenal and Tottenham, which are both decent squads that are struggling. However, they lost to Bournemouth and Southampton without scoring a goal.

On New Year’s Day, they drew at Brighton as they lost the lead in the 84th minute. Frank Lampard has appeared to be the Competent Old Club Legend Manager, so far, as he has led a very young squad to fourth in the Premier League table.

The Blues are third in the league in xG and xpxG + xA according to fbref.com, which suggests they have the firepower to compete at a high level. However, per understat.com, Chelsea is fourth in the division in expected goals against (xGA) suggesting they are likely to stay in the Champions League slots.
