Jose Mourinho’s initiation brings three points to Tottenham after West Ham came short of pulling a point back. After the loss, Manuel Pellegrini is being questioned even more.
The “Special One” hands Spurs their first three points after five outings without a win in the Premier League. The final score of 3-2 displays how close the Hammers came to possibly stealing a point back but time ran out and Daniel Levy’s choice to sack Mauricio paid off immediately.
Worryingly for the head Hammer, Pellegrini, this loss now adds to his worries of getting the axe and brings him closer to being the next manager to lose his job. Always a tough ask coming up against a team recently changing powers at the helm. So hopefully, some leeway for the loss.

For a large part of the first 45 minutes, Spurs were well in control of the game. However, it was West Ham who had clearcut opportunities in the early stages compared to the visitors. Not scoring allowed Tottenham to build and capitalise on them.
After the first goal scored by Son, Spurs kept pushing and it paid off for a second, and just before the halftime whistle was blown, the away side doubled their lead through Lucas Moura. A two-goal lead soon turned into a three-goal lead, through Harry Kane just after the halftime break. But the game was far from over.
Spurs then went to sleep on two occasions and allowed West Ham to get back into the game with substitution Michail Antonio getting his second against spurs in as many games. Defender Angelo Ogbonna gave hope to the home side but to no prevail. This after a goal Haller goal was disallowed. The hosts had all breaks to get a point or even the three points, but it wasn’t their day.
After the result
West Ham stretches their winless and pointless run to three games. Beyond this, they’ve now gone seven games without a win and have collected only two points from the 21 points up for grabs.
They drop down to dangerous depths and sit in an uncomfortable 16th place, two places below Spurs possession before they squad off against each other. Only three points above the drop has done its damage and has brought forth cause for concern. Their next trial is a tough one in another London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs lifted five places up in the EPL table and sit in 9th place. Man United sit a point and a place behind them. They face a stubborn Sheffield Wednesday in the only fixture on Sunday. A loss or a win will dictate whether or not they stay there.
A good and sort of convincing start for Jose Mourinho in his post as the Tottenham boss. The run-out against a battered and stuttering Bournemouth in their next meeting, and Jose’s third game in charge but first, a Champions League clash on home soil against Olympiacos.
