Liverpool’s number one and first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s return has been pushed back. The Reds playing it safe and are in no rush to get him back in action.

Liverpool suffered a major setback when they lost FIFA’s best goalkeeper to a calf injury. The Brazilian was set to be out for an estimated two months, according to reports and not according to Klopp (judging by his reply in his press conference where he joked about the situation with the reporter).

This was cause for concern as Liverpool would have to rely on newly included, free agent Adrian. Adrian was just released by his previous club, West Ham and was on route to Spain in search of a new deal.

While on route, the man got a call from the Reds acquiring his services. The stopper then turned the plane around and opted to head back to Liverpool, England, a place he now calls home.

Since signing he has been thrown in the deep end

More from Liverpool FC

Since signing for Liverpool he’s had to stand every game for them, baring the Carabao Cup where Klopp made a chain of changes to the starting eleven, using his full squad. Has he done a decent job in the Brazilian number one’s absence?

Yes, he has! He has improved as each week has gone by. There were some scary moments in the first few weeks, one mistake even leading to a goal. However, there has been little errors coming from between the sticks in recent weeks.

He has collected two clean sheets for his new club, making 12 saves in the process. While obtaining these numbers, he has only let in a low of five goals this season. The joint best in the Premier League after seven games. Only Leicester City has conceded the same low amount of five goals.

This has helped Jurgen Klopp and the managing staff trust him plenty when in between the goalposts. This has also made them not rush the return of EPL golden glove winner.

When will Alisson return to action?

It was reported the Anfield stopper was set to return before the next international break, but now it is said the club’s officials have postponed that party for Klopp and Liverpool.

"The form of deputy Adrian has made Alisson’s comeback less of a priority with Jurgen Klopp delighted by how the Spaniard has performed in the South American’s absence. The ECHO understands Alisson will train once more with the goalkeeping coaches at Melwood on Monday before a decision is taken on his return to the fold with the rest of the team.Alisson won’t be involved in either Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Red Bull Salzburg or the visit from Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, with his comeback tentatively penciled in for after the next round of national matches. It is understood Alisson has responded well to treatment and has impressed the Melwood staff during the last week of training at the club’s West Derby complex. (via: The Liverpool Echo)"

dark. Next. Are we gearing up for a de Bruyne masterpiece

We will probably see him back in full training in a couple of weeks. With the international break coming, it gives them a couple more weeks to get him match ready for a busy period. Coming back before the interruption will be impatient and could be costly if he is unfit later in the season again.
