No Chris Smalling, only Phil Jones. That will be the new video title. The defender has left Manchester for AS Roma. He will join on loan for a season long.
There are two questions to be asked before ending this write-up about the Englishman, Chris Smalling. But first what is in place for the defender on his new venture? Smalling will leave Man United for AS Roma on a season-long loan deal.
The deal is said not to include a buying option for the Italian club. It is also said the Red Devils will receive £3 million after the completion of the deal. Something has been confirmed after the player passed his medical earlier today.
Sky Sports also reported that both clubs were working hard on a more permanent deal for Smalling. Sadly, it fell through and obviously became too late to still negotiate for a fixed move.
"Talks between the two clubs started on Tuesday with United initially requesting €20m (£18m) between a loan fee and option to buy, but eventually decided to opt for a one-year loan to avoid long bureaucratic matters that could have scuppered the move."

1 – Why was he offered a new contract
There’s not a single soul on this earth that could explain this to me or to any logical thinker. How he was offered a new contract was more than baffling. Was it to up his funds for a sale, come to the end of last season?
Well, that clearly failed after a full transfer to the Italian club fell through. So when Man United’s ready to explain themselves on this matter, I hope I’m still around.
2 – Are you happy or sad to watch the Englishman leave the club
He is the longest-serving Man United player at the moment. Sadly for him, he has fallen out of favour and is not considered as a prime or secondary choice at United. So has this taken its emotional tone on United fans? I think not. No sorry, I know it hasn’t.
Smalling is currently United’s longest-serving player following his £7m move from Fulham in 2010 and was a regular following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s interim appointment last December. (via Sky Sports)
The question was no longer if, or when, it was please just leave I think. He was a liability in recent seasons and left David de Gea with loads of saves to make. A blessing for Red Devils worldwide.
