Wilfried Zaha is ready to quit Crystal Palace in search of some European football. Arsenal appears to be the perfect destination for the wantaway.

What for Palace to do in this situation? Last season’s bumper new contract was enough to keep him at bay for the season past, however, that’s old news and now he craves a move away, desperately.

"Wilfried Zaha has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave the club amid interest from Arsenal. The 26-year-old forward made his feelings clear after returning to Palace following his participation in the Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign. (via: Sky Sports)"

The clock’s ticking, preseason is underway, and teams must start wrapping up all of their business before the summer window shuts down. On the other side, players want their respective shifts and want to kickstart their new journeys.

More from Arsenal

Zaha is one of those players

Arsenal is the only team that has gone in hard for the London winger, having already had a £40 million bid rejected by their neighbours. The Eagles are convinced they will not be able to hold onto their best player but insist they will resist for better bids.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson has stated exactly this and feels the Gunners are far off from what their valuation of the winger is. After letting go of Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £55m to Man United already, Palace must hold out for way more.

"I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation. I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value. Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf."

Zaha is their best player hands down. He needs to respect Roy and the Palace board though. They are willing to accept bids, knowing they can’t keep his development back and have openly admitted it. The two must part ways on good terms. So leaving for the right price without pressuring his club to cave in for a dismal bid will enable this.

Next. Who will take the Ballon d’Or?. dark

Anywhere close to the £80m they consider him to be worth and Arsenal will acquire one of Unai’s top targets for the summer transfer window. Arsenal’s dealings have been below poor, to say the least.

They are in no position to play hardball with any club for any player. They should stop at nothing in trying to get Zaha to the North of London. It has been reported, Arsenal will step back in with an improved offer.
