Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is off to Madrid for a medical with Atletico
And he’s off! The fullback Kieran Trippier takes flight from England in preparation to join the Spanish La Liga if he undergoes a positive medical.
Man United and Napoli were heavily linked with the Champions League runner-up Kieran Trippier just ahead of the summer transfer window. Though, since the window has opened both clubs have turned their attention elsewhere and are now set to lose out on the Tottenham man.
Trippier struggled through the course of last season and was sat down, playing second fiddle to more suitable fullbacks to Mauricio Pochettino’s system. Once the season hit a full stop it was clear the Englishman was on his way out of London.

Not even being a dead ball specialist aided him. Spurs were well equipped with Christian Eriksen.
Now it has been confirmed
Sadly with the latest news on Trippier, he will not get to enjoy the new White Hart Lane and will have to wait for a visit with his new club if his to play there again.
Sky Sports and other outlets have stated the English fullback is on route to Madrid and will join forces with Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
"Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid, Sky Sports News understands. The England right-back will fly to Spain on Wednesday and is pencilled in for a medical with the Liga club, as talks progress over a deal."
Furthermore, the Spanish club is offering Angel Correa as a counterweight offer as talks advance smoothly between Kieran and the La Liga outfit.
"As part of negotiations over a deal for Trippier, Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa. It is unclear whether Spurs want to sign Correa but he is an Argentina international and is well-known to Mauricio Pochettino. (via. Sky Sports)"
Mauricio Pochettino would certainly improve the Argentine forward if he was to transfer over to Spurs. He does suit the young mould the North London manager invests heavily in but is the player ready to serve as the backup to several names that will absolutely get the nod ahead of him.
